The Merri Creek Trail is the backbone of my riding. It's a shared path, which means walkers, dogs, kids and prams — so ride like a guest.

The routes

• Merri Creek Trail: follows the creek from the Yarra near Dights Falls north through Clifton Hill, Brunswick East and Coburg. [Kirk: add your section, distance and photos.]
• Darebin Creek Trail: runs along the Darebin Creek through Ivanhoe, Alphington, Preston and on north. [Kirk: verify and add details.]
• Capital City Trail: links to the CBD and Yarra paths at the southern end.

Parks Victoria manages parts of the Merri Creek corridor, including the Merri Creek Valley & Escarpment.¹

Shared-path rules (they apply to you)

• Keep left and give way to pedestrians.²
• Ring your bell early and slow down to pass.²
• Lights on when it's dim — under bridges and in winter afternoons.²
• Only legal e-bikes belong here. Motorised trail bikes and e-motos aren't allowed on parks paths such as Yarra Bend.³
